Ohio State will take on Oregon on Saturday at 7:30 PM ET, which could be the game of the college football season. The game is so big that the MLB moved the start time of Game Five of the ALDS.
On Thursday night, the Cleveland Guardians won Game Four of the ALDS, forcing a winner-take-all Game Five against the Detroit Tigers. The game was supposed to start at 8:08 PM ET.
Ohio State Forced The MLB To Change Times
Cleveland is slightly less than two and a half hours away from Columbus, where the Buckeyes call home. Many people who live in Cleveland either root for Ohio State or attend school there.
Many were going to be faced with an issue regarding what game to watch between the Buckeyes and Guardians since they were pretty much starting around the same time, but the MLB took matters into their own hands and moved the baseball game to 1:08 PM ET instead.
The MLB moved the game and stated there would be inclement weather heading to Cleveland around nighttime, and they wanted it to be played. Still, the forecast doesn’t show any bad weather, and everyone is saying the same thing that the MLB moved the game because the Buckeyes were on at the same time.
College football has better ratings than the MLB, and this is the first big-time Ohio State game of the season, so a lot of people were going to watch them instead of the Guardians. The MLB couldn’t let its ratings tank in a winner-take-all playoff game.
The MLB will never say they moved the game because of a college football matchup, but they acted quickly after everyone on social media complained about what game they would watch, and many said Ohio State.
