Ohio State entered a new era of its program on Saturday with quarterback Will Howard, who transferred to the Buckeyes this winter from Kansas State.
In Howard’s first start with the program against Akron, he threw for 228 yards and three scores and even used his legs four times, rushing for 18 yards.
Ohio State missed last year’s quarterback running game since last season’s starter, Kyle McCord, never used his legs.
On Saturday, McCord entered a new chapter in his life when he stepped on the field at Syracuse and put on a show.
Former Ohio State’s Kyle McCord Has A Nice Debut At Syracuse
McCord threw for 354 yards, four touchdowns, and had one interception in Syracuse’s 38-22 win against Ohio.

The decision for McCord to leave Ohio State this offseason and head to a smaller school like Syracuse will pay off in a great way for the 21-year-old quarterback.
McCord just didn’t have the IT factor to be the starting quarterback at a program like Ohio State, and he couldn’t handle the pressure the position brings.
Being the starting quarterback at Ohio State is like being the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. It’s not an easy job, and McCord couldn’t handle it.
McCord can now lay low in Syracuse and develop himself without the pressure to win every single game, which can help him become an NFL player.
The Buckeyes and McCord had to get a divorce because it wasn’t working, but McCord landed in a great spot, and he might be the one to win the split if things continue to go his way in 2024.
