The Ohio State Buckeyes will have a huge game on the road this weekend against the Penn State Nittany Lions. Ohio State is the fourth-ranked team in the nation and Penn State is the third-ranked team in the nation.
One of the players on the Buckeyes who will be looking to make a massive impact in this game is freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. This season with Ohio State, he has caught 35 passes for 623 yards receiving and eight touchdowns, along with averaging 17.8 yards per reception.
Ohio State Buckeyes Offensive Coordinator Chip Kelly Praises Freshman Wide Receiver Jeremiah Smith
Buckeyes offensive coordinator Chip Kelly met with the media on Tuesday and said about the freshman star wide receiver:
“He is as serious a football player as I’ve been around, and his goal every single day is just to improve, and it’s just for him to get better at one facet of the game. It’s almost like you’re dealing with a 10-year NFL veteran in terms of how he approaches meetings, how he approaches practice. And it’s really — it’s rare.”
This is some high praise from Chip Kelly. He has coached in the NFL before with the Philadelphia Eagles. There is a very good chance that Jeremiah Smith will be one of the top wide receivers taken in the 2027 NFL Draft if he keeps up this pace.

For sure Jeremiah Smith has been impressive

There will be a lot of Buckeyes fans on Saturday if Jeremiah Smith is not heavily involved in the game plan. Some people may blame offensive coordinator Chip Kelly for it, but a lot of people may blame head coach Ryan Day more if that happens. Smith is the most talented player in this offense and he will need 10-15 targets on Saturday against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
