The Ohio State Buckeyes have the number one recruit in the class of 2026. Wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. is the number one recruit in that class.
He is from Santa Ana, California, and currently plays for Mater Dei High School. Henry Jr. is 6’6″ and weighs 200 lbs. He is the latest wide receiver recruit who could potentially make an impact for the Ohio State Buckeyes down the line.
Ohio State Buckeyes Recruit Chris Henry Jr. Speaks Out About Brian Hartline Promotion
One of the many reasons why talented high school wide receivers play for the Ohio State Buckeyes is because of Brian Hartline. Hartline has been the wide receivers coach for the last few years. On Wednesday, Brian Hartline received a promotion to be the offensive coordinator.
This move comes after Chip Kelly decided to leave Columbus, Ohio to be the Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator in the NFL. Chris Henry Jr. told Hayes Fawcett of on3 about the Hartline promotion and said:
“I love this move. Coach Hartline knows how to develop receivers better than anyone, & now with him as OC I know he’s going to put us receivers in the best position to dominate for sure.”
There is no doubt that Henry Jr. could be the next great wide receiver for the Buckeyes when his time comes. For now, he is still in high school and will not be playing college football until the 2026 season. It is going to be interesting to see how Ohio State will look when Chris Henry Jr. and Jeremiah Smith are on the field together.

The Buckeyes made the right move by promoting Brian Hartline to offensive coordinator. Henry Jr. and other future Buckeyes wide receivers are going to be good and potentially get into the NFL because of him. Hartline’s offense could look a little different compared to Chip Kelly’s.
