Ohio State has some of the best talent in the country at most positions, but the offensive line is one position group that has been overlooked.
The offensive line has been getting picked on for some time now, and every time Ohio State loses a big game, it always comes back to the offensive line not being tough enough.
Offensive line coach Justin Frye has received harsh and fair criticism from Buckeye fans. Many wanted him gone after last season, but head coach Ryan Day gave him another chance. In the last few weeks, Frye has struggled with recruiting.
Ohio State Lost Out On The Number One Offensive Lineman
Last week, the Buckeyes lost out on five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr., the number one lineman in the 2025 class. Sanders chose Tennessee, shocking many, and they also lost out on four-star offensive lineman Josh Petty to Georgia Tech a few days earlier.
Fyre needed to make some kind of move after losing out on two major offensive linemen, and a week before the Buckeyes opened up their season against Akron, he received an early Christmas gift.
Jayvon McFadden Commits To Ohio State
According to Hayes Fawcett from On3.com, Four-Star offensive lineman Jayvon McFadden has committed to Ohio State, choosing the Buckeyes over Maryland & South Carolina.

According to 247sports.com, McFadden is the 25th-ranked inside offensive lineman in the 2025 class and the 407th overall player in the class.
Landing McFadden was much needed for the Buckeyes because they couldn’t lose another offensive lineman prospect in a matter of a week.
McFadden might not be ranked as high as Sanders and Petty, but he has many skills and traits Buckeye fans should like. Hopefully, in a few years, he will be starting in Columbus.
