What NFL players who were newly acquired this off-season by their team will have the biggest impact? That’s what we’re here to answer and in this article we head to the AFC north. Every season these NFL teams cut and add players to build a championship team. Let’s dive into which newcomers will make the biggest impact.
Cleveland Browns – Amari Cooper

Most people would want to put Deshaun Watson in this spot as Cleveland Browns biggest new impact player. I just can’t do that yet because the question is impact player this season and at this point it looks like Watson will miss most of all of this season. Which in turn makes star wide out Amari Cooper the most impactful player. It will be Cooper who makes whoever is at qb look good or not by getting open and winning contested catches. The browns also got Cooper at a steal of a price. Compared to the kings ransom they paid for Watson, whom won’t be playing, looks better and better.
Cincinnati Bengals – Alex Cappa

This was one of the hardest picks out of every team. It was always on the offensive line between la’el Collins and Alex Cappa. Collins is the bigger name but he has missed significant time the last few seasons. Collins missed the entire 2020 season with a hip injury and 5 games last season due to violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Alex Cappa on the other hand has barely missed any games in his entire career and was a key part of Tampa’s o-line keeping Tom Brady upright. He also finished with a career high 73.4 pro football focus grade. Although the Bengals brought in a few talented offensive lineman this off-season, it’ll be Cappa holding the middle of that line every snap this season.
Baltimore Ravens – Kyle Hamilton

Not many people thought Kyle Hamilton would still be available when Baltimore Ravens picked at 14th, but the Ravens had a star fall right into their hands. They really didn’t have a need at safety with signing Marcus Williams in the off-season, but Hamilton’s versatility is a can’t miss addition. He can play safety, or hybrid linebacker. I see Hamilton being a big part of this secondary locking down NFL offenses.
Pittsburgh Steelers – Myles Jack

This was another tough choice and could be debated by others. With Pittsburgh Steelers going bigger in free agency than in past years, and picking future stars in the draft there was plenty to pick from. The addition of George Pickens in the first round gave either quarterback Kenny Picket or Mitchell Trubisky a serious weapon at wide receiver. But it really came down to guard James Daniels or ilb Myles Jack. Daniels was graded the 19th best guard in the NFL and immediately became the best offensive lineman on this team. Although It was extremely close Jack is a big need for the Steelers. In the AFC north it’s a necessity to be able to slow down the run in order to compete. And with Jack scoring over 100 tackles again last season he is a necessity to the Steelers success this season.
I know some of these picks could have gone either way, but I truly believe we have the most impactful players added on each team in the AFC north this season. I can’t wait to dive into the next division and I ask you to check out our next installment of this series.
