The Houston Texans have a 5-5 record this season and they will be facing the Buffalo Bills (7-3 record) on Thursday night this week. Houston running back Joe Mixon has not played a down this year to injury.

Well, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, he reported on his Twitter about Mixon,
“Sources: #Texans RB Joe Mixon is not expected to play this season as he deals with a foot injury from the offseason. Mixon likely remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list through the season. Meanwhile, Houston moves forward with Nick Chubb and Woody Marks.”
With him not playing a down this season, he is 29 years old. Mixon has one-year remaining on his contract. Will Houston decide to trade him or release him before the start of next season? That is something that remains to be seen.
Houston Texans Fans React To Joe Mixon Not Playing This Season

Some Houston fans are disappointed about the fact that Mixon will not be able to play for them this season. This is what some of them had to say on Twitter about him not playing this season:
Not shocked at ALL by the Mixon chaos, folks—totally predictable. But let me tell you, HOUSTON’S LUCKY. You’ve got WOODY MARKS sitting right there, a ROOKIE with REAL ENERGY. Stop tiptoeing! Put the kid in, let him COOK, and watch the whole stadium wake up.

Hasn’t practiced since July. Team said they’d have an update early Nov, and have since ghosted us (for the 3rd time).
Writing was on the wall.

Mixon officially done for 2025 without a single Texans snap. Wild. Chubb & Woody Marks take over. Fantasy stashes can finally drop him 😭 #Texans

Woody and Chubb are much better anyway

I do not understand why we took Chubb over JK Dobins… I REALLY don’t understand the lack of interest in improving the O-line…

During the 2024 NFL season with Houston, he rushed for 1,016 yards on 245 carries and 11 touchdowns, along with averaging 4.1 yards per carry. Mixon also caught 36 passes for 309 yards receiving and one touchdown, along with averaging 8.6 yards per reception. He was targeted 52 times.
If the Texans do decide to keep him this offseason, it would be a good move since Nick Chubb is only on a one-year deal anyways. As for Woody Marks, he will be the lead back for Houston heading into next season, but a healthy Mixon will give this offense a different look unless they move on from him.
