The Norfolk State Spartans of the MEAC (0-4) played host to the St. Francis University Red Flash (2-2) of the Northeast Conference.
The Spartans are currently sixth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
The Spartans came off a tough defeat to their rival the Hampton University Pirates and were looking to get their first win of the season. The Red Flash were looking to continue their winning ways after defeating Wagner Seahawks. The Red Flash are currently second in their conference.
Spartans Recap
The Red Flash started Red Hot with a 21-point first quarter. The Spartans bounced back with two touchdowns of their own. RB Jordin Lennon scampered in from 26 yards out and finished the game with 80 yards rushing. QB Jaylan Adams found WR Collis Pride from eight yards away.
The Red Flash responded with two more touchdowns to bring their halftime lead to 35-12.
The second half scoring started with an 81-yard touchdown run by WR Jason Wonodi for the Spartans. The fourth quarter featured 17 points by both teams. The Red Flash scored 10 points and the lone touchdown for the Spartans was scored by QB Jaylan Adams to RB JJ Davis for 30 yards. WR Tremayne Talbert lead the team in receiving with 73 yards. The Red Flash won 45-26.
Spartans Defense
The Spartans had leading tacklers LB Tyler Long with 12 tackles. and a sack and a half LB Marquis Hall with nine tackles, and DB Joseph White with eight tackles each were a bright spot defensively.
Ultimately, the first quarter was too much to overcome for the Spartans. The Spartans offense started to click by scoring the most points in a game this season.

The Spartans (0-4) will travel to play the Sacred Heart Pioneers (2-2) of the Northeast Conference on October 1st at 1pm.
