This season, Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning had to start in a couple of games because of injury to quarterback Quinn Ewers. Some fans wish Manning would have stayed the starting quarterback over Ewers, but fans will get their wish soon with Arch Manning.
Once the Longhorns 2024 season concludes, Ewers will either go to the 2025 NFL Draft or transfer to another school. Manning will most likely be the starting quarterback for head coach Steve Sarkisian and Texas in 2025.
CBS Sports Writer Blake Brockermeyer Thinks That Texas Longhorns Quarterback Arch Manning Could Be a Heisman Trophy Candidate In 2025
On Saturday night, Colorado Buffaloes cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy this season over Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty. With the 2024 Heisman Trophy in the rearview mirror, it is time to take a look at potential Heisman Trophy candidates for the 2025 college football season.
One name to watch for according to CBS Sports Writer Blake Brockermeyer is Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning. Brockermeyer said:
“No one will create more hype entering the season than Arch Manning given his lasts name, his his dual-threat ability and the immense talent surrounding him. Sarkisian is an elite schemer and there is no doubt there will be lots of green grass for Manning to throw to, but is he the elite quarterback developer we all thought? I’m concerned the plateauing of Quinn Ewers is in some ways an indictment on Sarkisian. Manning will have high expectations but we might be a year early on truly realistic expectations. Texas’ schedule in 2025 figures to be extremely difficult – at Ohio State, at Florida, at Georgia – and so Texas either has chances at a Heisman opportunity for Manning or, on the other side of the coin, the Longhorns may struggle to make the CFP, which would dim Manning’s Heisman hopes.”
This season with Texas, he completed 67.8% of his passes for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also rushed for 100 yards on 21 carries and four touchdowns, along with averaging 4.8 yards per carry.
Arch Manning has a chance to take college football by storm next season. If he has a tremendous year, there will be talks about him entering the 2026 NFL Draft.
Could Make An Impact In Playoffs
There is a chance that Manning could make an impact for the Longhorns in the college football playoffs. Texas will face the Clemson Tigers this weekend. If Quinn Ewers was struggling, would head coach Steve Sarkisian switch from Ewers to Manning?
The winner would face the Arizona State Sun Devils in the game afterward. However, if Manning doesn’t see the field at all this postseason for Texas, there is no doubt that college football fans and other Longhorns fans are looking forward to seeing Manning being the full-time quarterback most likely next season.
