Nick Saban Won’t Blame The Coaches For Florida’s Struggles But Stated Another Alarming Issue In The Program

Florida has gotten off to one of the worst starts any team could have. They lost to Miami in Week One, and then two weeks later, they played  Texas A&M and got run up and down the field on.

The Gator’s head coach, Billy Napier, was on the hot seat heading into the season, and it seems like he will be let go by the time the season ends.

Billy Napier Might Not Be Florida’s Main Problem

Almost every Florida fan wants Napier gone and replaced with someone like Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, but the greatest coach in all of college football doesn’t want to blame Napier for Florida’s issues.

On Saturday morning, Nick Saban was on College Game Day and discussed the reasons behind Florida’s Struggles.

Saban stated he may not think coaching is the problem, and they needed to do a better job building the facilities when Urban Meyer was there.

Matt Connolly from On3.com stated Saban’s full quote about the coaches not being the biggest issue in the program, and here is what the former Alabama coach had to say.

“Well, I think maybe the problem isn’t the coaches,” Nick Saban said. “You know, they’ve been through four coaches since Spurrier and Urban Meyer, who both created a tremendous culture of winning there. And sometimes the fanbase can just think ‘Well we can show up and expect to win.’ And not make the commitment to the program that you need to make to be able to continue to make the changes and investments you need to make to keep up with changing times.”

Saban makes many great points here. If Napier gets let go, he will be the fifth head coach, not including interims, to be the head man at Florida since Meyer left in 2010.

The problem seems to be a lot more than coaching with the Gators since no head coach has figured it out since Meyer was there.

Maybe Nick Saban will want to come out of retirement and want to lead the Gators next season and show the world he can win anywhere.
