Nick Bolton made one of the biggest plays of the Kansas City Chiefs‘ young season on Sunday night, when he stuffed Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson in the backfield on 4th down and 3 to clinch a 22-17 victory.

Bolton’s tackle helped keep the Chiefs unbeaten and atop the AFC West, and the veteran linebacker was fired up about the play — and the defense’s performance after the game.
“Yeah, you’ve got faith in your work man,” Bolton told reporters. “We’ve been talking all week, we kind of go late in the game, situational football. We pride ourselves on that, and I’m trying to be prepared – two minutes, four minutes, whatever we have – go out there and execute it.
“I’m trying to always win. Just trust the work, trust the things you do throughout the week, trust the keys, trust everything you’ve been putting into training camp and it just came out and we’re kind of worked in our favor today.”
Kansas City Chiefs’ Defense Needs to Improve From Here

The Chiefs’ defense under coordinator Steve Spagnuolo was a driving force behind Kansas City’s Super Bowl victory last season, and played a vital role in surviving Sunday night in Atlanta.
However, if the defense is going to serve as a worthy complement to an offense that has the pieces in place to be among the league’s most prolific, Spagnuolo’s unit is going to need to make some major strides from here. Through three weeks, the Chiefs’ defense is ranked 26th in total defense while surrendering 20.7 points per game.
Bolton’s clutch moment saved a victory, but it will be interesting to see how the defense as a group comes together and builds momentum of the season’s remaining 14 games.
