The Minnesota Vikings are 13-2 this season and are looking to keep their NFC North hopes alive with a win on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. No one expected Minnesota to be an elite football team this season, especially with Sam Darnold at quarterback.

Because of his performance, the Vikings front office will have some decisions to make this offseason. Should they let him walk, re-sign him, or franchise tag him? If Sam Darnold leaves, there is a solid chance that J.J. McCarthy is the Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback in 2025.
Minnesota Vikings Could Make Shocking Move And Re-Sign Kirk Cousins Next Season

If the Vikings let Sam Darnold walk and if they feel like J.J. McCarthy is not ready to be the starting quarterback in 2025, they will have to figure out who they could bring in. One name to potentially watch for is Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Cousins was recently benched last week by the Atlanta Falcons for rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. With three years remaining on his contract, they could be releasing him in the offseason. Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports thinks it is possible that the Minnesota Vikings would bring back Cousins after they didn’t re-sign him this offseason. She said:
“Interpersonal dynamics in Minnesota may complicate a reunion so soon after head coach Kevin O’Connell and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah moved on from Cousins. But the league is not missing the irony of the potential football fit a reunion would bring, as Darnold will likely command more than the Vikings want to pay, and injured rookie J.J. McCarthy’s rehabilitation timeline will leave uncertainty.”
The only way that the Minnesota Vikings should bring Kirk Cousins back next year is if Sam Darnold walks and if J.J. McCarthy is not ready to play. There could be other options for them if Cousins doesn’t come back to them.
Daniel Jones Option

One crazy option for the Minnesota Vikings next season could be starting former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. He has been watching the games from the sidelines and is on the Vikings practice squad.
Jones could benefit from being the Vikings starting quarterback if it ever came down to that. Daniel Jones could also be elsewhere next season and if Minnesota starts a 37-year-old Kirk Cousins next season, it would be crazy to see what would transpire also.

One of the most stupid predictions ever made. Why the hell would they bring back a quarterback they just jettisoned,? Especially after being proven to be a loser and commanding top pay. I believe he has one playoff win in his career and he has been on some pretty good teams. He’s the White Dak Prescott.
