The NFL world responded to a report on Russell Wilson

A new report came out Friday that then Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson wanted head coach Pete Carroll fired. In his place, he wanted the Seahawks to hire Sean Payton. NFL fans responded to the report on social media on Friday after the report went viral.

Wilson didn’t get his wish in Seattle. However, it came to fruition with the Denver Broncos. The Seahawks traded Wilson to the Broncos. The move worked for them as they made the playoffs with Geno Smith in a tough NFC West division. The Broncos would struggle in Wilson’s first season, leading the first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett’s ouster. They have since hired Wilson’s coach of choice, Payton.

    The NFL world reacts

Fans took to Twitter to react to the report on social media. Many of the comments mocked Wilson for his arrogance in the situation in Seattle. Others criticized the report filled with unnamed sources as a smear campaign. Here are the best takes on Wilson wanting Carroll to be fired.

This attempt to tear apart Russell Wilson is pathetic. The dude simply wanted out. He clearly had respect towards Seattle's FO. I can't stand these small outside sources getting attention from people. https://t.co/VUkJnnPT7J

“For Russell so loved the Seahawks, that he gave his only begotten Coach, that whosoever believeth in him should not lose, but have everlasting Championships.”

I am not a Russell Wilson fan, that being said, I never believe any article that includes unnamed sources. If it's true, put your name on it or stay silent. Way too many organizations reporting, news, and sports take this cheap and easy way out for a story. @TheAthletic https://t.co/zgwL0w93w9
