NFL Survivor Week 1 leagues are a fun and easy thing to do during the season. All you have to do is pick a team to win that week. Simple enough, right? Well, the challenge is you are not allowed to use a team more than once, so looking ahead and saving “dominant” teams is the key to success as the year progresses.
Today, we are going to dive into the Week 1 slate and talk about three teams you should consider. The difficulty in Week 1 is not knowing how teams are going to come out of the gate, and this is where most people lose.
NFL Survivor Week 1 Team #1: Washington Commanders
This is going to be a popular pick because logic says to fade the Arizona Cardinals this season. With Kyler Murray still recovering from his torn ACL and a new head coach, they are going to struggle. Throw in the fact they have their own and Houston’s first-round pick, and this could be a drastic tank for Caleb Williams.

The Commanders have offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy joining the team, who should help quarterback Sam Howell do well this season. The defensive front should keep them in games, and they also have solid-skill position players. Washington is a seven-point home favorite right now and should be able to do well here.
NFL Survivor Week 1 Team #2: New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are going to be an interesting team to watch this season, and they open the year hosting the Tennessee Titans. The Titans have an okay quarterback, and this should be interesting. Their left guard is a rookie and could get some trouble against a good defensive line.
The Saints are a three-point favorite at home, and with Derek Carr under center and even without Alvin Kamara due to suspension, they still have Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, and Jamaal Williams to wreak havoc. Expect the Saints to be a team you may not have too many chances to use to win Week 1.
NFL Survivor Week 1 Team #3: Dallas Cowboys
The Sunday Night Football matchup and one of the more popular selections will be the Dallas Cowboys on the road against the New York Giants. The defense improved with cornerback Stephon Gilmore, and Dallas is a 3.5-point favorite on the road here. The Giants did add tight end Darren Waller, but the offense still is going to have some issues scoring points.
Expect Dak Prescott to dominate as he is 10-2 lifetime against the Giants with 23 touchdowns to seven interceptions. Dallas should start the year off 1-0 and get you to Week 2 in Survivor Leagues.
An important note, if you plan on doing multiple leagues, is to choose different teams as an upset would ruin you.
