NFL SKILL GROUP RANKINGS 2022
The NFL is loaded with talent at wide receiver and running back. Tight end is a bit more cut and dry at the very top, but still very competitive. Instead of solely doing an individual position list for those groups, I think it’s more compelling to jump into the skill groupings as a whole. In an NFL where more points are being scored than ever before, you would expect the personnel groupings to be extremely deep and versatile. You’d be correct. Here are the NFL Skill Group Rankings 2022.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Coming off of a season where the Bucs finished second in total offense, you’d expect them to be pretty high. The fact of the matter is, they may actually be better this year. Sure, losing the likes of Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski hurt initially, but the Bucs retooled just fine. To an already loaded group featuring All-Pro’s Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, they added All-Pro Julio Jones, Pro Bowler Kyle Rudolph, and young talent Russell Gage. Furthermore, Leonard Fournette and Giovanni Bernard are the notable names in the backfield. Byron Leftwich is still at the helm at OC. Tom Brady is still the quarterback. There’s not a better group top to bottom in football.
- Miami Dolphins: Miami Dolphins fans have got to be ecstatic about the 180 here. From one of the bottom tier groups to, in my opinion, the second best in football. All-Pro Tyreek Hill, All-Rookie Jaylen Waddle, and Cedric Wilson easily make up the fastest and most explosive receiver room in the game. 4-6 at WR is incredibly talented as well. Additionally, Raheem Mostert, Chase Edmonds and Myles Gaskin headline a deep running back group with much needed versatility. Mike Gesicki stars as one of the premiere pass catching tight ends in football and Durham Smythe is a viable TE2. Therefore, it’s all on the QB and OL for the Dolphins in 2022.
- New Orleans Saints: All-Pro Mike Thomas, Pro Bowler Jarvis Landry, and 1st round pick Chris Olave make up the most balanced WR trio in the NFL. TreQuan Smith and Marquez Calloway have proven to be extremely solid league worthy talents as well. Simultaneously, Taysom Hill offers his abilities as a Swiss Army knife. Quite literally, whatever you need him to do, he’s done it and done it at a playable level. That said, All-Pro Alvin Kamara and Pro Bowler Mark Ingram are the engine that keeps the train rolling. Undoubtedly, Jameis Winston has every tool at his disposal this season. Expect a great year from this underappreciated group.
- Cincinnati Bengals: 8th in total offense in 2021, the Bengals proved to be as stacked as anyone on offense despite inconsistent OL play. All-Pro Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd lead the WR group. Incredibly, those three guys almost crossed the 1k yard mark individually (Boyd only 828). Pro-Bowler Joe Mixon, veteran staple Samaje Perine, and Chris Evans give you a three deep RB room. Hayden Hurst steps in to take over the TE room and projects to have a greatly increased role. All in all, QB Joe Burrow has no shortage of talent at the skill positions. Expect a lot of points here in 2022.
- Kansas City Chiefs: Obviously, All-Pro Tyreek Hill is irreplaceable. However, the Chiefs still have as much talent as anyone in the NFL. All-Pro Travis Kelce continues to build his case for the TE GOAT conversation. Pro Bowler JuJu-Smith Schuster, All-Pro KR/WR Mecole Hardman, Marquez Valdez-Scantling, and 2nd Round draft pick Skyy Moore are as good of a 4 deep as you could ask for. Furthermore, Blake Bell’s return from injury will offer unquestionable flexibility in short yardage and red zone situations. Lastly, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Ronald Jones II, and Jerrick McKinnon provide experience and flexibility for a bevy of use. Ultimately Andy Reid, Eric Bieniemy, and Patrick Mahomes will use those pieces at their disposal.

I’m so happy to read this. This is the kind of manual that needs to be given and not the accidental misinformation that is at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this greatest doc.
