The NFL is trying to give an indefinite suspension to Deshaun Watson of no less than a year under the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
This all comes after Watson was accused by 24 women of sexual misconduct or sexual assault during massage sessions in 2020 and 2021. All the cases were settled except for four of them, and now two more cases are being processed.
Watson has denied all of the accusations that have come his way, saying that all he wants to do is clear his name. Although two grand juries decided to not indict him on criminal charges, Watson still isn’t out of the woods.
Per Andrew Beaton of the Wall Street Journal, the NFL is not willing to accept a suspension of less than a year. And then an indefinite suspension could keep Watson away even longer depending on if he is accused of anything else.
The NFLPA has wanted to negotiate a suspension for Watson, but it hasn’t led to an agreement. Either way, the NFLPA says they are ready to appeal any suspension given to Watson.
