NFL PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
For week two, the NFL Performance of the Week goes to Miami Dolphins trio – Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill & Jaylen Waddle. The on field performance, which we will dive into, was undeniably incredible. However, the fact that the lofty (and to some unrealistic) expectations the trio had put in front of them are being met so soon is even more admirable. You have to throw a bone to Head Coach Mike McDaniel here as well. The 2nd half play calling was absolutely beautiful. Even still, the difficulty level of the throws and catches that had to be made were very clear. The Miami Dolphins displayed their capability without a doubt.
Tua Tagovailoa
Tua Tagovailoa has & will continue to be one of the more polarizing, if not THE most polarizing player in the NFL. Despite that, there was very little doubt left on what he’s capable of after Sunday’s performance. The first half was a bit shaky in all fairness. Although he moved the ball well and made some impressive throws, 2 untimely interceptions overshadowed that. He finished the first half 12/17 for 150 yards, 1 touchdown & 2 interceptions. The Dolphins also trailed 28-7 at the half.
The second half was truly the thing of legend. Tagovailoa went 24/30 for 319 yards and FIVE second half touchdowns. In the 4th quarter alone he went 13/17 for 199 yards & 4 touchdowns. He finished 36/50 for 469 yards and a Miami Dolphins record (2nd in NFL HISTORY) SIX touchdowns. Maybe more impressively, he was 6/7 for 145 yards & 4 touchdowns on 3rd downs. After week 2, Tua sits at first in the NFL in passing yards, passing touchdowns, first downs & wins. What a way to silence the haters.
Tyreek Hill & Jaylen Waddle
I’d be remiss if I didn’t give the best wide receiver duo in the NFL. Tyreek Hill & Jaylen Waddle are not only the best duo currently, but undeniably the most explosive and fast duo in league history. That was on full display Sunday evening in Baltimore. Hill finished with 11 catches for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Waddle finished with 11 catches for 171 yards and two touchdowns. They became the FIRST duo in NFL history to both have 10+ catches, 150+ yards & 2 touchdowns. After week two, Hill sits atop the NFL & Waddle sits at 3rd in receiving yards. They are also the top 2 YAC guys. This duo is every thing we thought it would be.
