NFL Offensive Line Of The Week

My NFL Offensive Line Of The Week for week five is the New England Patriots. This group has certainly had their ups and downs over the early stages of this season. That being said, the last three weeks they’ve definitely begun to come together as a unit. Honestly, they’ve played like one of the better units in the game the last three weeks. On Sunday, they easily played their best game of the season leading the way for the Patriots to put up 364 yards of offense, 6.5 yards per play, & 5.0 yards per rush on the way to a 29-0 victory over the Detroit Lions.

    RUN GAME

In the run game, this was easily their best day in the office. The hogs up front led the way for running back Rhamondre Stevenson to have one of his best career days. Stevenson had 25 carries for 161 yards. The vaunted Patriots power run game was on full display. The interior three OL of Onwenu, Andrews & Strange excelled in holding the point of attack, moving interior DL off the ball & getting to the 2nd level. Consistency up front is everything to this Patriots team right now. Mac Jones is out with injury & the team is very limited at receiver. The big guys up front have more than answered the call.

    PASS PRO

In pass protection, the group was stellar as well. In his first start at QB, rookie Bailey Zappe was 17/21 for 189 yards and a touchdown. On the 26 drop backs, Zappe was not sacked once. Pro Bowl Left Tackle Trent Brown has been absolutely exceptional in pass protection recently. He’s only allowed 5 pressures the entire 2022 season in pass pro. Rookie Guard Cole Strange had his best day as a NFL player as well. On 26 drop backs, he didn’t register a single sack, hurry, or pressure. All around, an incredible performance against a Lions DL with a lot of talent.
Trent Brown, Cole Strange, David Andrews, Mike Onwenu & Isaiah Wynn, take a bow!
