One NFL referee is coming under major fire from fans after a report that she had met with Taylor Swift for quite a while before the Kansas City Chiefs game this past Sunday. Referee Sarah Thomas must be a huge Swiftie as she had quite the lengthy meeting with the superstar ahead of the game in which she reportedly face-timed her family to let them say hi to the Swift ahead of the game.
Many fans took issue with this as to some this is a legitimate bribe. When human beings are the ones calling these games, that will include human errors in the way the game is called. If you meet your favorite celebrity ahead of a game that can certainly impact the way you call the football, and fans have had issues with the way Chiefs have been called for years now.

While calling rigged every time the Chiefs win a game is quite stupid, having a referee meet their favorite celebrity ahead of a matchup can certainly impact the way that ref will call the game.
NFL Referee Sarah Thomas Met With Taylor Swift Pregame

Swift is one of the biggest celebrities in the world, and she has been in attendance at many of the Chiefs home games to cheer on her boyfriend Travis Kelce. While she is in the middle of a tour she has still been able to make time to come to the games. She has added tremendous revenue to the NFL since the beginning of her relationship with Kelce, and that has sparked a lot of fan conspiracy theories that the league has been rigging games in their favor.
The Chiefs have been in close games in almost every game this season and have won all of them, however, there have been some very questionable calls and no-calls that have worked in the favor especially late in games. This is nothing new, as there have been some super strange calls and no-calls that have favored the Chiefs in previous years as well, but fans are all taking to social media after the report of a ref and Swift meeting before the game:
According to a report, NFL referee Sarah Thomas met up with Swift prior to Sunday’s game, asking for a photo/Facetime with her family.
From a report:
Sarah Thomas, the down judge (ref) for today’s Chiefs/Broncos game, briefly met with Taylor Swift before the game She was on FaceTime with family and I heard her say, ‘Did you get that screenshot?’
This does not help at all when it comes to all rigging accusations for the Chiefs:
“I’m sure it was her walking by and exchanging words not “meeting” context is pretty important here when Sarah’s professionalism may be called into question by haters,” one fan wrote.
“A pregame meet and greet with Taylor Swift outside the Chiefs locker room IS A BRIBE. This needs to be investigated and she should never see an NFL field again!” one fan added.
“Not a surprise. The NFL, league offices and the Shield love them some KC Chiefs,” one fan added.
“So did you actually witness their meeting or are you basing this off of what you overheard?” one fan added.

On the other hand, meeting your favorite celebrity can be just that. But these rigging accusations are not going away any time soon. Every time anything like this happens the fans are going to groan on social media about rigging.
There have been some egregious calls and no-calls this season, for the Chiefs and everyone else, and this highlights a referee issue at large. Penalities are flying on the most important downs of games, and on 20% of plays in general and fans do no like it. This is certainly not going to help.
