NFL and New Orleans Saints fans have been losing their minds over the fine that quarterback Derek Carr received for his touchdown celebration this past week.
The Saints are looking like one of the most dangerous teams so far this season, and have been putting up record-breaking numbers in the first two games. Specifically, they have the most points scored through any two games of any team in the history of the NFL, and that made Carr want to do some dancing in the endzone in their beat down of the Dallas Cowboys.
Derek Carr Punished For Touchdown Celebration
Carr is legitimately off to a potential MVP type of season with what he is doing with the Saints’ offense. While two weeks into the year is way too early to make any of those predictions, Carr’s last 10 games dating back to last year have been wildly impressive.
Carr was clearly having the time of his life in their beat down against the Cowboys and he whipped out a Michael Jackson celebration for one of his touchdowns. He perfectly executed the iconic crotch grab that MJ made famous, and he has now been hit with a hefty fine for that dance:

While most were shocked by the dance, Carr revealed that anyone who knows him knows he is a legendary dancer.
“People don’t know a lot of stuff about me. … Weddings or birthdays, I’m always dancing,” Carr said, via ESPN. “One time I hit the Michael Jackson and [my brothers] were like ‘Bro, you have to do that if you score.'”
Sadly, that was a $14k dance that Carr treated the Cowboys fans to, as he was fined for the type of celebration he made. Carr didn’t comment on the fine but rather placed all his attention on the huge matchup they have this week against the Philadelphia Eagles.
“It’s gonna be awesome,” Carr said, via NFL.com. “We had to prove it to our fans. We didn’t give them good enough football last year.”
NFL Fans Are Socked at The Punishment
NFL fans can’t get over how much they penalized Carr for this celebration, and they all started to point out that if this was a different team or player there would be a different punishment. Many fans also just couldn’t believe that this warranted a fine altogether:
“We getting fined for celebrations. We are so back!!!,” said one Saints fan.
“The league that desperate for money? That’s embarrassing man,” said another fan.
“Derek Carr is officially playing good enough for the league to decide to fine him,” one fan added.
“Let Patrick Mahomes or Travis Kelce do it though. This is lame,” another fan added.
“A fine for that? So stupid, they can’t even celebrate,” one fan said.
“Send me the bill right now!!!,” another fan said, offering to pay Carr’s fine for him.
“It seems like they’re trying to find new ways every season to make the nfl a little worse on purpose,” another fan added.
“This is the start of another Bounty Gate/No Call situation. The League can’t have the saints be good they have to punish us whenever we are,” said another frustrated Saints fan.
Do the fans have a point or do you think the fine was worthy for Carr because of the nature of the celebration?
