At just the end of NFL’s Week 11, there is a head coach who is reportedly going to get fired this week after a brutal and embarrassing blowout loss. The Jacksonville Jaguars have had a season to forget, and they just secured their most embarrassing loss yet this season against the Detroit Lions.
Doug Pederson Reportedly Set To Be Fired This Week
The Jaguars fell to 2-9 after getting demolished by the Lions 52-6! This season has just been abysmal from the start and it never showed any signs of life. After this destruction, there are reports that Pederson could be fired this week.
The Jaguars were a two-touchdown underdog in the game, which was the highest spread of the 2024 season, and the line could have been much wider. This is all very bad news for Pederson per an NFL.com report. Per the report:
Recent history appears to be on the way to repeating itself in Jacksonville.
The Jaguars, mired in a miserable rut after losing four of their last five games, might be looking at another regime change for 2025, and sources say a dramatic move could come as soon as this week, pending the results of Sunday’s game against the Lions.
Jacksonville enters its bye in Week 12, which could serve as an ideal time to regroup.
Additionally, NFL insider Josina Anderson backed that exact same sentiment as well saying:
“Heard from a couple people…the owner prefers to wait to make a decision after the season, but if they get blown out this weekend (vs. the Detroit #Lions) change is possibly coming,” a source told her.
The source added: “Define fair in the NFL. What’s fair? This is a business. I mean I see your point, but people are definitely talking about these things down here.”
NFL and Jaguars fans want Pederson gone, and they were all taking to social media to talk about it throughout the game:
“Shad Khan needs to walk into the locker room and fire Doug Pederson at halftime,” one fan wrote.
“Doug Pederson should quit at halftime,” one fan added.
“Doug Pederson might as well not even come out of the locker room after halftime,” one fan added.
“Doug Pederson should just leave the stadium at halftime he should know by now he won’t have a job by tomorrow,” one fan added.
It does seem like Pederson’s time in Jacksonville is coming to an end. He was quite productive prior to Trevor Lawrence’s injury last year, but since then, the team has been the absolute worst in the entire league. There have been numerous reports that Bill Belichick may be the one to take over next season, but there are plenty of other candidates who could as well.
If the reports are correct, Pederson will be gone by the time the Jaguars play their next game. He was supposed to be fired if there was a blowout, and there ended up being one of the biggest blowouts in NFL history. If Pederson gets fired, who would you want to see take over this team?
