The NFL front office has officially sent a warning to all players about a South American crime syndicate that has been targeting player’s homes for robberies.
This has been an ongoing story after both Kansas City Chiefs superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Klece’s homes were broken into and robbed in the middle of a game. The FBI has been on the case and has been investigating the house break-ins.
NFL Sends Warning To Players About Crime Syndicate
After looking into the robberies, and trying to establish a connection between them, the NFL is now warning their players that this is a very real and scary thing that is going on. An organized crime ring is potentially trying to go after professional athletes’ homes while they are not there.
Per a new memo obtained by NFL.com, the league has sent an official warning to the players’ union and to team security directors about this organized crime syndicate:
“It’s legit,” one source said. “It’s a transnational crime ring, and over the last three weeks, they’ve focused on NBA and NFL players, and it’s all over the country.”
Both Kelce and Mahoems’ houses were burglarized, but they have reportedly not been the only players to have been robbed. There has been at least one other NFL player’s home that was broken into over the past week. With the new report coming out, fans have been erupting on social media about the crime ring and how the league plans to keep the players safe:
“This is gonna wind up being a big story. [Milwaukee Bucks player] Bobby Portis and [Minnesota Timberwolves player] Mike Conley Jr also had their homes robbed recently. If these are all connected,” said Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post.
“You lay a finger on Joe Burrow, Ja’marr Chase or Trey Hendrickson and I will have you spinning over a fire like a pig roast,” said one Cincinnati Bengals fan.
“what in the ocean’s 11 is going on?,” another fan asked.
“This is a wild story,” said Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio.
“Me telling my son he’s the man of the house while I’m away for the holidays, deployed to Pat and Britt‘s house running point on perimeter security. #notonmywatch,” said one Kansas City Chiefs fan.
This is really one of the craziest stories in recent memory surrounding sports. There have been multiple robberies and if they are all connected the leagues have a real problem on their hands. Thankfully, the robberies have been while the players are not there, and that seems to be a part of the plan.
Players have even been warned not to post on social media in real time showing their locations. Many players have been adding special security measures in their homes.
