It has been five years since two-time Super Bowl champion Chris Long played his last NFL game for the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, the former defensive end is keeping himself busy, primarily by hosting a podcast. This would not be possible if he chose to retire in 2019 due to a very valid reason.
Long had a successful 11-season career in the NFL. He was drafted second overall by the St. Louis Rams in 2008 and quickly made a name for himself. Over his tenure with the Rams, New England Patriots, and Eagles, he achieved significant milestones, including winning two Super Bowl titles—one with each of the latter teams.

Long’s impact on the field was notable; he registered 70 career sacks and was recognized for his defensive prowess. His tenure with the Rams was marked by consistent performance, leading to multiple Pro Bowl selections and a reputation as a formidable defensive player.
He played a crucial role in the Patriots’ historic comeback in Super Bowl LI against the Atlanta Falcons. In a way, the defensive end contributed to the largest comeback in Super Bowl history.
2-Time Super Bowl Champion Chris Long Reveals Why He Retired From the NFL

Just recently, the former defensive end revealed the reason why he decided to retire in an episode of Green Light With Chris Long, a production of Yote House Media. As it stands, his health took precedence over more years in the league.
“I’m happy to be where I am physically, but this [pointing to his head] is not something I play with. This is part of the reason I got out when I did,” Long said.
After retiring in 2019, Long shifted his focus to philanthropy and media. He launched the Green Light Podcast, which showcases interviews with various personalities and covers sports analysis. Additionally, he founded The Chris Long Foundation, aimed at providing clean water solutions in East Africa through the Waterboys initiative.

Today, Long also serves as a panelist on the television show Inside the NFL, continuing to influence the sports world beyond his playing days. His legacy combines athletic excellence with a strong commitment to social causes, making him a respected figure both on and off the field.
