In one of the strangest NFL stories this week, Hall of Fame running back Terrell Davis was wrongfully handcuffed and removed from a flight.
This incident transpired on Saturday night, and on Monday, Davis took to his Instagram to share his “traumatizing experience” of getting handcuffed and removed from a United Airlines flight in front of his wife and children. The incident stemmed from Davis asking a flight attendant for a cup of ice for his son to which the attendant yelled at Davis saying, “Don’t hit me.
While nothing came from that, when the flight was over, six FBI agents came on board and handcuffed Davis and removed him from the flight.
NFL Legend Terrell Davis Gets An Apology From United Airlines
Davis was candid about his incredibly strange and awful experience on Instagram:
“I was – and remain – humiliated, embarrassed, powerless, and angry,” Davis wrote. “During questioning, it was rightfully determined by the agents that this flight attendant was inaccurate and the agents profusely apologized.”
While Davis, at the time of his post, did not receive an apology from the Airline, now United Airlines has officially issued an apology to Davis.
“This is clearly not the kind of travel experience we strive to provide, and we have reached out to Mr. Davis’s team to apologize,” United said in a statement, via KTLA. “We have removed the flight attendant from duty while we closely review this matter.”
Even on Monday, Davis wrote that he was “still in shock” from the whole situation. He clearly must have been traumatized from this situation and expressed that their actions “cannot be undone.” He has had to have many hard conversations with his family because of this ordeal. He wants an investigation done into the flight attendant who blatantly lied about him.
He said his legal team will be contacting United Airlines, but it’s a good start that the airline issued an official statement, and have fired the employee.
“I refuse to stand by without speaking out on this disgusting display of injustice and deplorable treatment by United Airlines,” Davis wrote.
NFL Fans Were Just As Upset As Terrell Davis Over The Incident
Not only were fans quick to social media to offer their support for Davis following this insane incident, but even ex players and teammates of his chimed in:
“I hope you get some Justice! These flight attendants need to be held accountable 👊🏻,” said former Bronco Derek Wolfe.
“Guy should be fired and make a public apology as well as United, so happy there were witnesses who saw what happened,” another person added.
“United about to write a big ol’ settlement check,” a third person said.
“Thank you for sharing we will never use united airlines again! This is a small example of what happens regularly yet most don’t have a voice! Justice for you and your family!!” a fourth person chimed in.
“This some BS right here,” added ex-Bronco Chris Harris.
While it is a great start that the airline apologized to Davis, he will undoubtedly look to get more justice from this incident, as he had to deal with some issues because of the altercation.
