The New England Patriots will be without their longest-tenured coach, Bill Belichick this season, in what should be a comprehensive rebuild for the team. The legendary coach himself will also be in a very new era of his career as he will not coaching in the NFL for the first time in many decades.
While Bill has announced some exciting ventures for this upcoming 2024 season of football which include multiple football shows, there are still many names around the league that think the legend will make his return in 2025. It’s all about who Belichick will be coaching and not if.
Former New England Patriots Star Reveals Bill Belichick’s Next Destination
There is one of Belichick’s former star players who thinks he knows exactly where the coach will go when he makes his return to the NFL in 2025.
Asante Samuel, who had some of his best years with the Patriots including two Super Bowl Championships, was speculating on where he thinks the coach will go and there is only one team in his mind that fits the bill.
Samuel feels that the Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants the all-time coach in Dallas for 2025. Jerry has always been a brilliant marketer of his franchise which has been one of the many driving forces in the Cowboys becoming the wealthiest evaluated sports franchise in the world. There would be nothing better for viewership than if we saw a Jones and Belichick team up in 2025.
The former elite cornerback feels the same although he wonders if Bill has been affected by the way that the team has dealt with their star players this offseason.
“Jerry Jones, he loves his players. He treats them right. Something’s going on this year. And I think that leads to next year, to say Bill Belichick will be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys,” Samuel said on ESPN Radio, via Get Up. “And it ultimately comes down to Jerry Jones, and Jerry Jones wants to win a [Super] Bowl. For him to get that Bowl, his options are running out. And that last option for him to make this thing come to light is Bill Belichick.”
The Dallas Cowboys Have A Lot Of Moving Parts
Samuel feels that the way the team has specifically dealt with CeeDee Lamb may have affected Bill’s desire to coach them, but at the same time, he iterated that Jones may go all in for Bill.
Another former Patriot Damien Woody chimed in as well speculating that Belichick would not have interest in the team if Dak Prescott was there as well. There are a lot of moving parts in Dallas and while Belichick may have interest now, he may not by the time next season comes around. As a fan as well, you cannot help but wonder what a Belichick and Jones team-up would bring in the NFL, as those are two of fans’ favorite villains in many ways.
At this point, everyone had to get their speculation on this topic during the segment on ESPN. Insider Jeff Darlington speculated that this season will be the deciding factor, highlighting that a deep playoff run or more would make this all moot.
He also argued that Jones would have to make some major compromises to the way he runs his organization if he were to bring in a general like Bill. However, he also sees a future in which this could happen.
“I think it’s going to be something we keep talking about, obviously, if the Cowboys struggle,” Darlington said.
This will certainly be a topic of conversation, especially if the Cowboys look awful to start the year. We will have to wait and see how it all unfolds, but what is certain is that Belichick will be trying to make his return in 2025.
Meanwhile, the Patriots have to decide who their starter will be for this year.
