New England Patriots cornerback Jack Jones is facing a major hurdle in his career. You could say that it’s his own doing, though, after the 25-year-old was arrested back in June at the Logan International Airport in Boston. This was after TSA authorities found two loaded guns in his travel luggage at a routine checkpoint.
Jack Jones Speaks Out on ‘Difficult’ Legal Situation
Jones was supposed to attend a probable cause hearing on Friday, but this has now been pushed back to September 15th, which already coincides with the start of the new season.
Speaking to reporters in Foxboro after Wednesday’s practice, Jones admitted that he is indeed in a tough spot at the moment:
“I mean, at times it can be difficult. But I try not to let the outside affect what’s going on on the field,” Jones said, via WBZ News. “So I try to come out here and just focus on football and let the outside be the outside and worry about that outside.”
To be fair, Jones does sound a bit remorseful over this whole brouhaha — one that he could have easily avoided if only he made the right choices. Obviously, that’s easier said than done, though.
Given the nature of Jones’ legal matter, it would not be surprising if the league was doing its own investigation on the incident. For his part, however, Jones himself has no idea if there is an ongoing probe and if he will be facing some sort of punishment from the NFL.
“I don’t really know. Not that I’ve heard so far,” Jones said. “I mean, right now it’s just day to day. That’s all I can really say about that.”
When asked about his availability for the Patriots’ season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 10th, Jones has hinted that this could now be out of his hands:
“I hope so. I mean, I hope I’m available [for Week 1],” Jones said.
