Former NFL MVP Boomer Esiason reported that Jon Gruden wants to make his return to the league. Not only that but many teams have real interest in bringing Gruden in. According to the former MVP, it is only a matter of time before the league brings him back as a coach.
Shocking Report Reveals Jon Gruden is ‘Definitely’ Coming Back
Gruden’s history in the league has been spoken about at length, and he was able to attain incredible success in the league as well as incredible embarrassment from the heinous comments that he made about so many things. Per Andrew Holleran from The Spun:
Gruden, 61, has been out of the league since 2021, when he was pushed out by the Las Vegas Raiders for his email scandal. The longtime NFL coach and ESPN analyst used racist, misogynistic, and homophobic slurs in emails sent to former Washington GM Bruce Allen, from 2011 to 2018. Gruden took shots at NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, calling him a slur, and Michael Sam, the first openly gay player drafted by the National Football League. Gruden “resigned” from his job with the Raiders in October of 2021 and he was also removed from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Ring of Honor in 2022.
After all of that, Gruden is strangely set to make a comeback to NFL coaching. While that may seem highly doubtful, Esiason thinks that it is a certainty and only a matter of time:
“I’m telling you right now, (I made a) couple calls last night — I can confirm that he definitely wants to get back in. One hundred percent,” Esiason said on his WFAN radio show, “Boomer and Gio.”
He went on to say that there are multiple teams interested in hiring the 61-year-old former NFL head coach even after all of the drama that has come with him:
“I can also confirm, and I believe this to be true — this is, again, my opinion after speaking to at least two different people that are involved in coaching searches and things of that nature — that there are teams that are interested in him.”
He added: “If it’s not this year, it’s definitely next year. But he’s coming back. He’s definitely coming back.”
On WFAN this morning, Boomer Esiason said he’s made some recent calls and that Jon Gruden "is definitely coming back."
He confirmed that Gruden’s name is circulating in HC searches.

Gruden has reportedly gained more favor in the NFL circles in recent months, as he was spotted at the Siants’ practices earlier this year, and was hanging around the Buccaneers’ ownership just this past weekend.
It seems that the Bucs may even change their mind on Gruden and bring him back into their Ring of Honor:
“Gruden was inducted into the Ring of Honor in 2017. However, following the revelation of emails containing offensive language, the Buccaneers announced on October 12, 2021, that they would remove Gruden from the Ring of Honor. Now three years later, while nothing is official, it’s sounding like he could soon be back in,” Jeff Darlington reported.
Everyone deserves a second chance, but Gruden would certainly need to do a lot to gain back favor in the eyes of NFL fans. Do you think there is any chance that we see Gruden back on the sidelines any time soon?
