NFL: Minnesota Vikings Complete Trade With The New England Patriots (Breaking)

NFL: The Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots are two interesting teams to watch out for in 2023.  The Vikings are coming off a season in which they finished 13-4 during the regular season.  That record earned them the second overall seed in the NFC playoffs.  Even after some key departures this off-season, the team expects to be right back in playoff conversations this year.

The Patriots on the other hand finished the regular season 8-9 and missed the playoffs.  Many believe this is Mac Jones’ “make it or break it” year with the team.  One thing that will help him “make it” is his protection along the offensive line.  The Patriots just agreed to a trade with the Vikings that could help with just that.

In a social media post on August 27, Jordan Schultz of the Schultz Report reported that the Vikings had dealt Vederian Lowe to the Patriots.

New England continued to add offensive line reinforcements the day after dealing second-year running back Pierre Strong to the Browns for tackle depth.  It was the Vikings who drafted Lowe, 24, in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. As a rookie last season, the 6-foot-5, 314-pound tackle appeared in four games with Minnesota.

Considering New England’s lackluster preseason from the entire offensive line, it’s apparent that Bill Belichick and his staff have decided to prioritize more help on the outside of their offensive line following a lackluster preseason from the entire unit after they struggled to get their offensive line out of the gate.

There has never been a strong presence at tackle other than Trent Brown this summer for the Patriots. It hasn’t just been a matter of young players like Andrew Stueber and Sidy Sow having a difficult time against opposing teams during the preseason, but it has also been a matter of injuries affecting a position that was already thin on New England’s depth chart.
