Whether fans like it or not, the NFL and American politics have been, and will always be, intertwined. It is just the nature of things. Professional athletes, like every other American citizen, have strong opinions on policies and the people that are elected to govern the nation. Sometimes, the NFL and politics intersect, and the reaction to these instances depends on how various people lean politically.
A supporter of 34-time convicted felon and former President Donald Trump, for example, will find NFL players endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris infuriating. On the other hand, supporters of Vice President Harris will find other players endorsing Trump equally as infuriating.
Former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, who has ruffled some feathers in the past with his political leanings, is likely taking a different approach to questions of that nature now.
NFL Legend Tom Brady Addresses His Political Leanings
According to a report by The Spun, Brady should not be expected to address any political topics during his new job as an NFL broadcaster.
Per the report, Brady once said, “My personality isn’t ever one to insult anybody. I have plenty of my own flaws. I’m not here to point out anyone else’s flaws. There are things that I agree with. There are things that I don’t. There are things I agree with my wife about. There are things that I don’t. I love her to death, but we don’t always see eye to eye. I don’t see eye to eye with anyone.
“And I’m not responsible for what other people say. I’m really responsible for what I say. So if people want to say things that I said or that I’m about, that’s up to them, and I’m not going to respond to all those things all the time either.”
Of course, this statement was before his highly publicized divorce from his wife.
It also came after a report came out in 2015 that he had a Make America Great Again cap in his locker. He also has referred to Trump as a “friend” in the past.
