The NFL takes betting very seriously.  There are strict rules for players in the league when it comes to betting, yet year after year we see players get caught betting in some type of way on the NFL.  However, one starting NFL quarterback’s father has been doing a heavy amount of betting.

As all fathers should, Joe Burrow’s father believed in his son. He not only believed, but he quantified it:

Burrow’s father, Jimmy Burrow, reportedly placed a $2,000 bet on his son to win the Heisman Trophy with odds at 200/1.

As luck would have it, Burrow would go on to do just that.

Jimmy Burrow would walk away with $400,000 as a result.

WILD RUMOR: Joe Burrow’s father allegedly placed a $2,000 bet on his son to win the Heisman Trophy during his time at LSU.

The bet was placed at 200/1 odds, and when Joe Burrow won the Heisman his father reportedly won 400 THOUSAND DOLLARS.

Joe Burrow turned in one of the most prolific seasons in college football history as a 2019 senior en route to a historic Heisman Trophy win.

While leading LSU to a national title, Burrow broke several records en route to being named the most outstanding college football player. He set 10 FBS records, including 6,039 total yards of offense, 60 touchdowns, and a 76.3 completion percentage on the season.

He also set the SEC record for most passing yards in a season with 5,671 and a program mark with 76 career passing touchdowns.

Following his Heisman campaign, Burrow was drafted first overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (9) runs for the locker room after the fourth quarter of the NFL Week 18 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025. The Bengals won 19-17 to finish the regular season at 9-8.

In the 2024 NFL season, Joe Burrow would’ve likely run away with the MVP award if his team had made the playoffs.

The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback finished last season as the NFL’s leader in passing yards (4,918) and passing touchdowns (43). He also finished with just nine interceptions.

It was undoubtedly the best year of his five-year career.

However, the Bengals went 9-8, finishing the year on a five-game winning streak, but the 0-3 and 4-8 hole they dug themselves into proved too much to overcome.
