Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is one of the front runners to win the 2024 NFL MVP this season. Allen has been tremendous on all fronts. Entering Sunday, Buffalo has an 11-3 record and an outside shot for the number one seed. He hopes to continue his MVP case against the New England Patriots.
This season, Josh Allen has completed 64.4% of his passes for 3,395 yards, 25 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also has rushed for 484 yards on 91 carries and 11 touchdowns, along with averaging 5.3 yards per carry.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport Revealed On Sunday Morning That Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen Has Been Playing Through a Left Broken Hand Since Week 1
With the playoffs being just a couple of weeks away, there are always some interesting stories that come out during the 16th week of the NFL season. On Sunday morning, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network wrote in a column about the potential NFL MVP candidate this season:
“Sources say Allen has played through most of his MVP-caliber season with a fractured left hand.
Allen broke his non-throwing hand in the fourth quarter of Week 1’s win over the Cardinals, going absolutely airborne for a touchdown run while being shoved by two players and landing on his hand. He immediately got up to celebrate, but looked at and shook his left hand.
Allen said after the game that he was “fine” and he missed no time. On the team’s subsequent injury reports, Allen was listed as a full participant for each practice ahead of a quick turnaround against the Dolphins on a Thursday night.
While it was known Allen had a hand injury — he was on the injury report until after Buffalo’s Week 12 bye — the severity and nature of his injury was not previously known. All it does now is add some context to the ridiculousness of what Allen has done this season.”
The fact that Josh Allen has played through the injury all season just goes to show how tough he has been for this football team. It didn’t even look like he was playing through a hand injury all season long for the Buffalo Bills.
Fans React
He fractured his left hand diving into the end zone against Arizona in week 1. He definitely did more damage to that hand against the 49ers a few weeks ago. JA17 is just built differently, plays with a lot of heart, everyone in Buffalo has loved him since he’s been here.

Was he playing with a broken hand when he was benched in the 4th quarter vs Baltimore and then went a historically bad 9/30 vs the Texans? MVPs don’t have games like that in an mvp season.

Hard to see him not winning MVP this year, Lamar is right there with him though.

Faking an injury because Lamar is better in every statistical category, Bills fans are so desperate 😂😂😂😂😂

Great! It’s truly remarkable how he’s been able to perform at such a high level despite the injury.

There are a lot of interesting fan reactions to this news. It is no surprise that the Kansas City Chiefs fans in these mentions have to mention Josh Allen faking injuries because many NFL fans think Patrick Mahomes fakes his injuries. Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Saquon Barkley will probably be the finalists for the MVP Award this season.
