NFL Fans Are Saddened By The Death Of Cleveland Browns’ Mascot

NFL fans are all taking to social media after the Cleveland Browns announced some very sad news on Tuesday. The team announced that their mascot, Swagger Jr. passed away at five years old. The young puppy was born in 2018 and took over the mascot duties from his father who passed in 2020.

The Browns took to social media to announce the passing and fans have been reacting all day to the sad news.

“We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved mascot, SJ. We are so grateful for his many years of loyal support and cherish all of the wonderful memories he helped create for fans young and old,” a statement from the Browns read.

NFL fans have been sending their condolences and tributes out to the very good boy on social media all day today. Here are some of the best fan reactions to the news:

“We’ve lost a legend. He was a good boy. R.I.P., Swagger Jr,” one tweet read.

“RIP to the best mascot in the game,” another tweet read.

“Dang, this sucks on such an exciting day for the Cavs. Very sad,” another fan tweeted.

“Cleveland, and really the entire NFL, lost a really good boy today. SJ was such a fun part of going to Browns games. Just like his daddy. RIP, sweet prince,” another tweet read.

“Rest in peace, SJ,” another tweet read.

“We’ve lost a legend. He was a good boy. R.I.P., Swagger Jr.,” said analyst Andrew Siciliano, who included a photo of himself with the beloved dog.

“RIP Swagger Jr. You will be remembered fondly Muni and Stripes— time to fulfill your destiny and carry on the legacy. #Browns,” one fan wrote.

“Browns winning the Super Bowl in SJ’s honor. If you need a new mascot, Tubby can take on the responsibility #DawgCheck,” a second fan said.

“Not a good day :/ RIP SJ,” a third fan added.

“Don’t mind me crying,” a fourth fan chimed in.

SJ had a few children so it is definitely possible for one of his kids to take his place and take the mantle of mascot for the 2024 season. We will have to wait and see. As we know all dogs go to heaven, and our hearts go out to the Browns organization.
