NFL fans were outraged on Thursday when ESPN fired Robert Griffin III and also Sam Ponder. Ponder was the host of “Sunday NFL Countdown” on ESPN. One of the reasons why they both were let go was because of “budget cuts.”
A lot of people are not buying this nonsense. Sam Ponder spoke out about not having alleged men in women’s sports. A lot of people believe that this is one of the reasons why she was fired from ESPN.
NFL Fans React On Twitter About ESPN Firing Sam Ponder
When people on social media discovered Ponder was fired from ESPN, everyone was upset about it. There was not a single bad word said about her. This is what some of the folks on Twitter had to say about her ridiculous firing from ESPN:
.@ESPN got rid of @samponder, the only female sportscaster to stand up for women’s sports and female athletes. @nike is silent on protecting women’s sports while pretending to care about female athletes.
The sports establishment is cowardly and corrupt. They choose wokeness…

Wow @espn just fired @samponder, the only woman still employed at the company to speak out forcefully against men competing in women’s sports, a couple of weeks before the football season started citing “budget cuts.”

WTF @espn?!?!?!?! Sam Ponder was a breath of fresh air and a PLEASURE to watch. Smh. Absolute travesty. As a woman whose childhood dream it was to be a sportscaster, watching @samponder do this job and be a kick ass mom at the same time was my honor! Shame on you @espn

There is no doubt that Ponder will find another job in sports broadcasting. Seeing her go to FOX Sports one day would not be a surprise. Former ESPN employee Sage Steele stood up for her and was super proud. Michelle Tafoya of FOX also stood up for Sam Ponder after being fired from ESPN. Tafoya used to work at NBC.
When everyone sticks up for you after your firing, maybe ESPN is the problem and not the person. Mike Greenberg could potentially replace her as the host of Sunday NFL Countdown. After Ponder was fired, there was a lot of hate toward ESPN’s Mina Kimes.
Sam Ponder was one of the bright minds at ESPN and it was a shame they let her go.
