NFL fans had strong feelings in response to a decision the league made this week.
Per an Associated Press report, Jay-Z has refuted allegations that he was a participant in a sexual assault involving a then 13-year-old girl.
The musical pop star claimed the allegations were propagated as an extortion attempt. Per the AP report:
Jay-Z says a rape allegation made against him is part of an extortion attempt,” wrote Phillip Marcello with the AP. “A woman who previously sued Sean “Diddy” Combs, alleging she was raped at an awards show after-party in 2000 when she was 13, amended the lawsuit Sunday to include a new allegation that Jay-Z was also at the party and participated in the sexual assault.
One of Jay-Z’s companies, Roc Nation, called the allegations “idiotic.”
NFL makes a decision on Jay Z

Roc Nation works with the NFL for social justice causes and other purposes, including helping to put on the Super Bowl Halftime Show. On Wednesday, league commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the NFL’s standing with Jay-Z amid the allegations.
“We are aware of the civil allegations and Jay Z’s really strong response to that,” Goodell said. “We know obviously that litigation is happening. But from our standpoint, our relationship is not changing with them, including our preparations for the next Super Bowl…I think [Rock Nation is] getting incredibly comfortable with not just the Super Bowl but other events that they have advised us on and helped us with. They’ve been helpful in the social justice area to us on many occasions. They’ve been great partners that have provided a lot of value to us.”
NFL fans were not impressed

Fans on social media had strong reactions to Goodell’s answer.
“Social justice” is a ruse, always has been. The corruption runs very, very deep,” wrote a fan.
“The NFL being on Netflix now, is another reason I continue not to watch a bunch of millionaires play rigged football. It’s entertainment, like WWE, that’s it. No reason to bet on them,” suggested another.
“Fire Jay Z,” suggested one fan.
“Roger Goodell basically said “he’s perfectly fine with his friend, and business parter being accused of SA a 13 year old girl.” Nothing will change in their business relationship. Talk about levels of power. Goodell is trash! Jay Z is TRASH! SMH,” argued a fan.
“Goodell is prioritizing business over the serious allegations surrounding Jay-Z,” wrote a fan.
“I don’t think this will end well,” posted another.
