The NFL’s best quarterback is almost unanimous across the board with Patrick Mahomes being the clear number 1. While almost every analyst has the Buffalo Bills superstar Josh Allen in either the second or third spot after Mahomes.
Allen is clearly one of the best talents in the history of the NFL at the quarterback position, let alone right now. While he has had trouble overcoming the Kansas City Chiefs in the postseason, Allen has proven that he is one of the best in the business. However, with all of that being said, his peers do not seem to be very fond of him.
List Of NFL Players Name Josh Allen As Most Overrated
Ahead of the 2024 season, ESPN conducted interviews with 103 current players to gauge their feelings and opinions on the landscape of quarterbacks around the league. Each of the 103 players was asked specifically to vote for many things about quarterbacks, one of them being who the most overrated player is at that position today.
Allen led all of the quarterbacks with 11 votes as the most overrated beating out both the likes of Tua Tagovailoa, Trevor Lawrence, and Jalen Hurts. It is quite shocking that out of the polling of 103 players in the league, Allen would take this top spot. If not for Mahomes consistently beating him when it matters, I would posit that Allen would be thought of in much higher regard.
While the media can, at times, make statements about Allen that are blasphemous and overrating him, especially when comparing him to Mahomes, Allen is clearly one of the best in the league.
It did not take long for the Bills star to find out that he was voted as the most overrated, and in classic Allen fashion, he responded with good comedy.
While Allen was voted the most overrated, he also got the honors from the players for being the best and biggest trash-talker at the quarterback position. Allen of course, was more interested in that:
On Wednesday morning, Allen tweeted, “So you’re telling me, I was voted as the #1 … best trash talker??? Let’s goooooo!!!”
NFL Fans Radically Disagree With The Players
This had fans from all different fan bases shocked by the players voting. While fans of other teams like to poke at Allen and the Bills for not being able to make it to the Super Bowl, almost everyone knows that Allen is, at minimum, a top 5 quarterback.
Recently, both legends Tom Brady and Peyton Manning named Allen in their top 4. These guys know a little bit about good quarterback play. Here are some of the best fan reactions to the poll:

“If you think Josh Allen is overrated, you don’t know ball (he’s probably underrated). There is a certain AFC quarterback that has a Super Bowl appearance that is more overrated than him,” another tweet read.

“In what world is Josh Allen more overrated than Justin Herbert?!” another tweet read.
Allen could have easily been the MVP last year as he had performed at a much higher level than Lamar Jackson. His team just had a worse record. He finished the season totaling: 4,306 passing yards, 29 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions. His rushing stats were also spectacular.
