Shedeur Sanders will be playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2025 NFL season according to a recent mock draft by Nick Wright. On Monday, Wright, the co-host of ‘First Things First’ on Fox Sports, showed off a mock NFL draft which placed Sanders in the second round. This is not surprising as more and more NFL analysts are placing Sanders here, as opposed to him appearing in the first round in earlier predictions.
Sanders is being labeled as a remarkable young talent after his brilliant season with the Colorado Buffaloes. In his senior year for Colorado, the quarterback managed a total of 4,134 passing yards, scoring 37 touchdowns, while managing ten interceptions for the team.
“The slide ends. … If he is there at 21, I feel like the Steelers will take him.” Nick Wright said about Shedeur Sanders on ‘First Things First’ on Monday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been eyeing Aaron Rodgers for quite some time. However, Rodgers did not exactly give them a confident response yet, and it looks like he is waiting for the Minnesota Vikings to get back to him with an offer. In the meantime, the Steelers have turned their attention elsewhere and might try to bring Shedeur Sanders on board for their 2025 roster.

Shedeur Sanders Criticized For Ball-Patting Habit
While Shedeur Sanders is definitely a talented quarterback, the young footballer has been criticized for a number of things including one of his habits, which is ball-patting. Sanders indeed has a habit of patting the ball before throwing. While the habit is pretty common and seen among other quarterbacks like Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen, certain analysts have started to call this action out.

This especially comes after the Colorado Pro Day when Shedeur Sanders’ skill sets were showcased clearly for scouts and football analysts. Some NFL analysts have trolled the ball-tapping habit, remarking that it could be a ‘tell’ for defenders and, therefore, could cost the team the game. At the same time, others have defended Sanders, including other successful quarterbacks like Tom Brady and Josh Allen, who also practice this habit.

It is still unclear as to which team Shedeur Sanders will end up with for the 2025 NFL season. The younger son of Deion Sanders, former NFL player, is sure to bring plenty of talent to whichever squad he ends up with. Despite having a pretty cocky attitude, Sanders’ skill-sets are definitely up there with other legendary quarterbacks in the start of their NFL careers.
