The NFL is one of the most well known organizations not only in the United States, but the world. Obviously, the same could be said about President Donald Trump and his administration.
However, there is one NFL legend who is absolutely sick of how the President is leaking over into sports.

Taking aim at sports networks and discussing politics, former ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III sparked debate across social media. He made these comments a day after ESPN’s Mina Kimes criticized the USA’s Department of Defense for temporarily removing a page about Jackie Robinson’s military service:
Griffin, a former NFL quarterback and now-media personality, voiced his opinion on Thursday afternoon. “Sports shows on TV should be about sports, not politics,” he posted on social media.
His stance resonated with some fans who believe sports networks should stick to game coverage. However, others defended Kimes, arguing that Robinson’s legacy is inseparable from the racial challenges he overcame.

Griffin was fired by ESPN before the 2024 NFL season and has not elaborated beyond his social media posts. In spite of this, his statement reflects an ongoing debate about sports and politics. Many people believe that figures like Robinson represent more than just athletic achievements, while others argue that sports should be an escape from real-world issues.
Griffin’s former colleagues have not publicly responded to his remarks as of yet. Sports fans remain divided over ESPN’s coverage of political topics.
