NFL: The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a season in which they went 12-5 and were considered Super Bowl contenders. After an earlier-than-expected exit from the playoffs, the Cowboys are looking to bounce back in 2023. Much of their success will depend on the play of their defense. Micah Parsons will likely be a big part of that. However, he created some controversy at practice this week.

The Cowboys had a heated practice session this past week. Multiple fights broke out during the mid-week’s practice, including one that featured a punch thrown by superstar defender Micah Parsons.
After getting into it with Pro-Bowl center Tyler Biadasz, Parsons landed a punch on the veteran lineman. This punch resulted in a massive offense vs. defense scuffle on the practice field:

Just last week, Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy had this to say about all the fighting going on during the Cowboys’ joint practices with the Los Angeles Rams:
“You like fight in your football team,” McCarthy said, via The Dallas Morning News. “You don’t want fighting because of the discipline of what it does, it’s not part of the game. So you definitely want the fight, the edge, the discipline of being on the edge. But also we’re still on a practice structure.
I think as you see in these types of environments one team is not used to practicing against the other, for obvious reasons and it particularly happens at the end of plays that’s usually when this stuff happens. I think it’s normal if you went around the league I don’t think our practice would look any different than others.”
Fans can understand that emotions get high during practices, however, it is still surprising to see professional players going after their own. Getting fired up is one thing. Attacking your own teammate – who is wearing protective gear – is just stupid. Are the Cowboys in for another year of circus antics?
