It’s Week 12 in the NFL, with seven weeks left of the regular season. As each week passes, we are one step closer to the most exciting time of the year: the playoffs. The next seven weeks will ultimately decide which teams make the playoffs and which teams do not.
Several talented players remained unsigned heading into Week 12, which could improve a team’s chances of winning and making the playoffs. One notable free agent who hasn’t been signed yet is a Pro Bowl offensive tackle, formerly of the NFC West.

Left tackle D.J. Humphries highlights one of the top free agents and offensive linemen available. Humphries spent the last nine seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, starting 98 games with the team, and making it to a Pro Bowl in 2021. Unfortunately for the left tackle, he suffered a torn ACL late last season, Week 17, and the Cardinals released him in March.
Humphries worked out with the New York Giants over a month ago. Since he wasn’t quite ready to return to the football field and the chances of the Giants making the playoffs were slim to none, the former Pro Bowler left New York without a deal. Almost 11 months have passed since he suffered the ACL injury, and he wasn’t medically cleared.

He is ready to go
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, D.J. Humphries has been medically cleared in an exciting development. As Rapoport points out, Humphries could be an intriguing option for a team in playoff contention if an offensive tackle suffered a major injury in the near future, or a starter in particular continues to struggle.
