Championship weekend is here in the NFL. The Cincinnati Bengals face the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium for the second year in a row.
The San Francisco 49ers fly East to face the Philadelphia Eagles in another terrific matchup, and both games are essentially coin flips.
Jalen Hurts and the upstart Eagles against the 49ers and their tough defense, not to mention Mr. Irrelevenat Brock Purdy at QB. In the other game, it is an AFC title game rematch from last year and Joe Burrow against an injured Patrick Mahomes.
However, there are some confusing and stunning ticket price discrepancies for the pair of title games.
Price to get into the stadium today for a single ticket, including fees, on @stubhub
NFC Championship: $1,075
AFC Championship: $255— Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) January 29, 2023
Yes, you read that right. Tickets for the AFC title game between the Chiefs and Bengals, with two of the best QBs in the game, are only $255 on StubHub.
However, the 49ers-Eagles matchup is nearly four times that amount, starting at nearly $1,100.
Why? Well, here’s one theory that is fun to think about.
It's wild how the ticket prices reflect the cost of living in San Francisco & Philadelphia vs the cost of living in Kansas City and Cincinnati. https://t.co/T8KFlV7ydT

Here’s one more thought: The Bengals-Chiefs play the final game of the night, beginning at 6:30 EST and 5:30 local time in Kansas City. The weather forecast is set at 22 degrees with a real feel of 9. Yeah, that might be why.
Then there’s the fact that the Chiefs are playing in their fifth straight AFC title game while the Eagles have been one of the hottest teams all year and the 49ers are trending up with everything they have been through, not to mention Philadelphia being a massive sports town.
There are a few different ways to look at it, but it is still stunning to see the huge gap between ticket prices for the NFL conference title games. It’s too bad for the NFL because they could’ve had a neutral-site AFC title game in Atlanta if the Buffalo Bills won.
