The Miami Dolphins missed the playoffs during the 2024 NFL season and wide receiver Tyreek Hill has been mentioned in trade rumors before the 2025 NFL season. Hill has two years remaining on his contract with the Dolphins and it will be interesting to see if he finishes out his contract with them.

Hill is 31 years old and is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. If Miami is out of the playoff picture by the middle of the 2025 NFL season, there is a chance that the wide receiver could be traded. However, is there a chance that he could be traded before the start of the 2025 NFL season?
One NFL.com Analyst Thinks That Tyreek Hill Should Be Traded From the Miami Dolphins to the New England Patriots

Different nfl.com writers wrote about where different players should be traded to before the start of the 2025 NFL season. David Carr of nfl.com would love to see Hill traded from Miami to the New England Patriots. Carr said,
“Hill has been at the center of Dolphins headlines this offseason. It actually started when he voiced his frustrations at the end of a disappointing 2024 campaign in Miami, both for the Fins (who finished below .500 for the first time since 2019) and Hill (who missed the Pro Bowl for the first time in his nine-year career). The star receiver publicly expressed a desire to play elsewhere, an idea the Dolphins nixed and Hill himself quickly backtracked on.
However, I’m not convinced Miami will keep him, considering his off-field issues and the fact that the franchise can save nearly $15 million by moving him, per Over The Cap. The Dolphins might be wary of trading within the division, but if not, the Patriots and Drake Maye certainly could use Hill’s services in the passing attack. New England has admirably overhauled the offense this offseason, and Hill would continue that trend by giving Josh McDaniels a guy who can elevate his attack to the next level due to his speed and field-stretching ability.”
Hill being in New England with Maye would be an interesting thought, but the Dolphins would probably not make a trade within the division with the Patriots. New England already signed Stefon Diggs in the offseason and made other moves. Hill and Diggs on the same team would not be a good idea.
Miami would not make this move anyways and Carr is a creating a fantasy with this trade suggestion. During the 2024 season with the Dolphins, Hill caught 81 passes for 959 yards receiving and six touchdowns, along with averaging 11.8 yards per reception. He was targeted 123 times. Hill also rushed for 53 yards on eight carries and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 6.6 yards per carry.
If the Dolphins were to trade Hill before the 2025 season to either New England or elsewhere, Jaylen Waddle could be Miami’s number one wide receiver on the roster, and it would also take another receiver option away from Tua Tagovailoa. The Patriots are not ready to be a contender in the AFC yet. New England made moves to be a better team in 2025, but this Hill trade suggestion from an NFL analyst appears to be just a pipe dream.
