Earlier this offseason, the New York Jets and the rest of the NFL were the subjects of the annual report card published by the NFL Players’ Association. Every year, current players grade their organizations in several categories, including Treatment of [Players’] Families, Locker Room, Food/Nutrition, Travel, Facilities, Head Coach, and Ownership.
In 2023, the Jets ranked 21st out of 32 NFL teams on the NFLPA’s report card, and that ranking fell in 2024 down to 29th.
And team owner Woody Johnson was the only owner in the NFL to receive a full-blown F grade.
To be clear, this grade was given by his own players.
What Did the NFLPA Report Card Say About New York Jets Owner Woody Johnson?

While the Jets ranked 21st out of 32 teams in 2024, Johnson himself had received a respectable B- grade from his players. However, following the Aaron Rodgers fallout, the firing of the head coach and general manager midseason, and a 5-12 finish, that grade dropped to an F.
Per the breakdown of the grades, Johnson received this grade from the Jets players for the following reasons:
- Owner Woody Johnson’s average rating for perceived willingness to invest in the facilities is 5.58 out of 10 from Jets players, a ranking of 32 out of 32 owners in the league.
- The players feel that Johnson does not contribute to a positive team culture, a rank of 32 out of 32.
- The players feel that Johnson is somewhat committed to building a competitive team, a rank of 31 of the 32 NFL owners.
But if New York’s players hoped that such a poor grade would inspire to take their concerns seriously, well, they will be sorely disappointed.
New York Jets Owner Woody Johnson Thinks His Grade Is “Bogus”

While talking to reporters at the annual NFL owners meeting, Johnson was asked about his poor grade. And even though he admits that he can be better about some things, he did not seem to take the voice of his own players seriously:
Rich Cimini of ESPN reported that Johnson called the grade, “Totally bogus.” When asked what part of it, Johnson said, “The whole thing.”
Cimini continued:
“Johnson, speaking to reporters at the annual league meeting, took issue with ‘how they collected the information [and] who they collected it from. [It] was supposed to be according to the agreement we have with the league. It’s supposed to be a process [where] we have representatives, and they have representatives, so we know that it’s an honest survey.
“‘And that was violated, in my opinion. I’m going to leave it at that, but I think there are a lot of owners that looked at that survey and said this is not fair, it’s not balanced, it’s not every player, it’s not even representative of the players.'”
It may very well be that some of the players that took the NFLPA survey are no longer with the Jets. And if that is the case, it is easy to see why.
