The New York Jets have had a tumultuous 2023 season. Most of this centers around veteran QB Aaron Rodgers plus what life has been like with and without him. One thing Rodgers did is make his mark on this franchise. Now, his team has officially recognized the impact he has made on them.
Aaron Rodgers Is Voted New York Jets Most Inspirational Player
Rich Cimini of ESPN NFL Nation released a story earlier today about Rodgers and the New York Jets. In this story, he touched on Rodgers being awarded the most inspirational player for the Jets during the 2023 season. This is despite playing just four snaps throughout the entire season.
It is no secret that Rodgers has had a heavy influence over this team since his arrival. During training camp, the show “Hard Knocks” on MAX chose to cover the New York Jets this pre-season. A large focus of that coverage was on Rodgers and how his veteran presence was heavily respected and very influential.
Rodgers’ Attempt at a Comeback
Despite tearing his Achilles in Week 1, Rodgers was attempting a miraculous comeback this season. Rumors speculated that if the Jets were in playoff contention after Week 15, he would play. Unfortunately, the Jets lost badly that week, and that all but ended any chance of Rodgers stepping on a football field again this season.
However, Rodgers wanted the Jets and the rest of the NFL to know he was not done. A few weeks ago, he was asked about what his future in the NFL was going to look like. Rodgers revealed that this year did not count towards his obligation and that he promised the New York Jets he would play for two years. As a result, Rodgers plans to play for an extra season on top of what he originally planned.
Aaron Rodgers Controversy
One thing we should note is that it has not all been sunshine and rainbows for Rodgers and the New York Jets. On the field, the Jets’ offense has been anemic this season. Off of the field, Rodgers has not been afraid to voice his opinion on certain topics.
His most recent take could even potentially get him sued. That is because he went after Jimmy Kimmel on “The Pat McAfee Show.” Rodgers mentioned that he would not be surprised to see Kimmel’s name on Jeffrey Epstein’s list. After Epstein’s list came out, it was revealed that Kimmel’s name was nowhere to be found. Kimmel also fired back and warned Rodgers to keep his name out of his mouth.
Despite this, it is clear that Rodgers’ teammates love him. Now, the New York Jets are focused on having a better 2024 season once they get Rodgers back.
