The New York Jets are waiting on Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers has announced his attention to becoming a New York Jets quarterback for the 2023 season. The Green Bay Packers are looking to move on to Jordan Love for next season. However, the Jets and Packers have yet to agree to terms on compensation to finalize the trade. Jets owner Woody Johnson spoke at the League Annual Meeting this week about the stalemated.
According to Brian Costello with the New York Post, Johnson said he was impatient to win and was anxious about the deal to land Rodgers going through:
“I think we’re anxious,” Johnson said Tuesday at the NFL meetings. “We’re anxious, I guess. We look forward. We’re optimistic. We have a plan. We’re willing to stick with our plan. I don’t think anybody is hyperventilating.”
There doesn’t seem a path for Rodgers to return to the Packers next season. However, the team has no incentive to trade him before the summer. They can save $15.8 million by waiting until June to trade Rodgers.
