When the New York Jets first acquired future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers, it was supposed to make them into Super Bowl contenders for the immediate future. Having already built one of the best defenses in the league, owner Woody Johnson and general manager Joe Douglas believed that Rodgers was the missing piece on what they were sure was a Super Bowl roster.
But they were wrong.
Rodgers missed virtually all of the 2023 season with a torn Achilles, and the rest of the roster, especially on the offensive side, struggled mightily. When last season mercifully ended with yet another 7-10 finish, New York started the process of reforming their roster around their four-time NFL MVP, who was going to be healthy in 2024.
Except he isn’t.
New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Is Banged Up
Do not get it wrong: Rodgers is in no danger of missing time. At least, not right now. But the NFL is a physical league and the future Hall of Famer is in his 20th season.
At 40 years old, his body just does not respond to being hit like it used to.
On Wednesday, it was revealed that Rodgers is dealing with several leg injuries, a knee injury, an ankle injury, and a bad hamstring.
Aaron Rodgers is listed with knee, ankle and hamstring injuries and will be limited today (only a walk through). The hamstring “flared up” vs Pitt, per Ulbrich, who says it may have compromised his mobility on a few plays in which he could’ve scrambled. #Jets

For Jets fans, this is just one more disappointment that has been the 2024 NFL season. Rodgers coming back from his torn Achilles, in addition to the “can’t miss” acquisitions by Johnson and Douglas were supposed to fix the team. But they didn’t.
Firing Robert Saleh was supposed to help.
But it hasn’t.
Trading for Davante Adams was going to fix the offense.
But it hasn’t.
And Jets fans are tired.
New York Jets Fans Want to Bench Aaron Rodgers or Watch Him Retire
One has to wonder if the Jets had realistic expectations of Rodgers (and if he had realistic goals for himself) when they first traded for him following the 2022 NFL season.
In his final season with the Packers, Rodgers completed 64.6% of his passes for 3,69 yards, 26 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and a 91.1 passer rating.
While these numbers may not be terrible, they are far below the standard Rodgers has for himself.
And they are even worse this year, as he currently has a 61.7% completion percentage, 1,663 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and an 82.7 passer rating.
Given the fact that he is now dealing with multiple injuries, many fans want to move on:
So we have a 40 year old qb with multiple injuries. Let’s play him. Unreal !! The Jets make you hate them more and more every day.

This is 40… he’s falling a part. Experiment failed moving on

Put Tyrod in please. He will do better than AR I can almost guarantee it. The era of statue QBs has long passed. Tyrod can actually move and run if needed unlike AR.

Before the season began, Rodgers told the media that if he did not play well, he and many other people in the building may be released/fired.
It certainly is trending that way.
