This game marked Rodgers’ first appearance since his injury during last season’s opener. Despite starting strong with a touchdown pass, his performance was inconsistent, completing 13 of 21 passes for 167 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Fans quickly took to social media to express their frustrations, with many pointing out his struggles against a formidable 49ers defense. The Jets initially scored first, but the 49ers took control, leading 16-7 at halftime. San Francisco’s Jordan Mason shone in McCaffrey’s absence, rushing for 147 yards and a touchdown, while Deebo Samuel contributed with both rushing and receiving plays.
Rodgers’ return generated high expectations, but his inability to maintain momentum throughout the game left fans disappointed. As the Jets struggled defensively and failed to capitalize on opportunities, Rodgers’ performance became the focal point of criticism. The Jets are gearing up for a competitive 2024 NFL season, aiming for a strong showing in the AFC East alongside the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins. With a challenging early schedule, including a recent against the 49ers, the Aaron Rodgers-led team is projected to finish the season with an overall record of 11-6, positioning themselves well for the playoffs.
