For as long as anyone can remember, Aaron Rodgers has always been a good choice for whenever a fantasy football draft comes along. According to ESPN, though, the New York Jets quarterback might not be a worthy pick for fantasy managers when the new season starts.
As the 2024 NFL season unfolds, Rodgers is poised for a remarkable comeback with the New York Jets. Following a frustrating 2023 marred by an Achilles injury, Rodgers is ready to prove his doubters wrong. According to a different analysis by Heavy, Rodgers is projected to start all 17 games and achieve impressive stats: approximately 4,211 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, resulting in a quarterback rating of 95.5.
If these projections hold true, Rodgers would not only rank among the top quarterbacks in the league but also set multiple franchise records for the Jets. The anticipated 4,211 yards would mark the highest single-season total for a Jets quarterback, while his touchdown count would tie for third-best in team history. Additionally, Rodgers aims to maintain low interception numbers, a feat only accomplished twice before in Jets history.
Despite concerns about his age and recent performance, Rodgers has historically thrived under pressure and criticism. This season offers him a chance to silence skeptics while leading a talented Jets roster filled with offensive weapons.
The Reason Why New York Jets’ Aaron Rodgers Should Be Drafted in Fantasy Football Leagues According to ESPN
While projections for Rodgers look good for next season, his fantasy football outlook isn’t at all. This can be seen in an analysis by Eric Karabell for ESPN.
“The Jets’ Aaron Rodgers and Falcons’ Kirk Cousins are quite older and anything but mobile runners, and they are coming off debilitating Achilles’ injuries. They used to be bargains appearing on my annual “Do Draft” list, but if you must choose a backup signal-caller in drafts, I direct you to sensible, wildly underrated 49er Brock Purdy and rookies Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams. Or just wait longer for a backup,” Karabell wrote.

Around a year ago, Rodgers tore his Achilles just four plays into his Jets debut, raising concerns about his season and future. Now, the former Green Bay Packers star has recovered enough to join the Jets as the new season is about to unfold.
Though his projected stats may not place him in the MVP conversation, they could significantly elevate the Jets’ chances of success in a competitive AFC East. On the other hand, his age and recent injury may make Rodgers too much of a danger for fantasy managers who are about to pick their rosters soon.
