The NFL negotiating window is set to open Monday, and there is strong mutual interest between impending free-agent quarterback Justin Fields and the New York Jets, according to multiple league sources.
Expect the Jets to make Fields their top quarterback target. I’m told there is strong interest in Fields from new head coach Aaron Glenn, and Glenn is the kind of coach and personality Fields would love to play for. A Fields to Garrett Wilson connection could be about to blossom in the Swamps of Jersey.
Why the New York Jets are Targeting Justin Fields

Fields, 26, is coming off a strong showing through the first six games of the 2024 campaign, passing for 1,106 yards with five touchdowns to one interception, and one rushing touchdown in his first season for the Pittsburgh Steelers before head coach Mike Tomlin made the switch to veteran Russell Wilson.
A former first-round pick out of Ohio State, it is easy to see why the Jets might survey the quarterback landscape, with the top veteran options consisting of the likes of Jarrett Stidham, Jacoby Brissett, and former New York first-round pick Zach Wilson, and believe that Fields offers the most upside and potential to become a long-term solution.
Teams can officially begin negotiating with free agents at noon on March 10, but the feeling is a desire from both sides to try to work towards a deal to bring Fields to New York.
