The New York Jets kicked off training camp this week at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park, New Jersey. They held their first two practices on Wednesday and Thursday, both of which were closed to the public. The team will hold its first two open practices on Friday and Saturday, wrapping up Week 1.
The Jets are not at full health with three players opening camp on the active/PUP or the NFI list. This designation allows them to be counted against the 90-man roster and to return to practice at any time. Highlighting one of the players currently on the PUP list is their former first-round pick.
New York Jets’ former first-round pick is recovering from a significant injury

Jermaine Johnson II suffered a season-ending right Achilles tear in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans, typically requiring a six-to-twelve-month recovery time. As a result, the Pro Bowler did not participate in individual drills or team drills during spring workouts but partook in sprint workouts off to the side with the training staff. Johnson began training camp on the PUP list but may return soon, as he is ten months removed from the injury.
New York Jets’ Pro Bowl pass rusher receives medical clearance

On X, Jermaine Johnson II shared that he flew to Los Angeles to meet with his surgeon, who has given him medical clearance. The Jets are expected to activate him from the PUP list soon, which allows him to return to practice. When Johnson returns, the plan is to take his time and gradually increase his reps, ensuring he feels comfortable, therefore, reducing the risk of aggravation.

But through Gods grace and guidance I prevailed against all physical, mental and… pic.twitter.com/jY3XSoLXSp
