The New York Jets had a tough assignment to start their 2024 NFL season. That is because they had to cross the country to take on the San Francisco 49ers. This is a team that won the NFC last season and took the Kansas City Chiefs to overtime in the Super Bowl.
Unfortunately, for the Jets, they lost to the 49ers last night by a final score of 32-19. However, Jets head coach Robert Saleh seems optimistic about this start. Read below to find out why.
Robert Saleh Admits 0-1 in 2024 is Better Than 1-0 in 2023

At this time last season, the New York Jets had a surprising victory over the Buffalo Bills in Week 1. Unfortunately, it came at a huge cost, as they lost QB Aaron Rodgers for the season due to Rodgers tearing his Achilles. It effectively meant that the Jets’ season was over before it even truly began.
This year, the Jets lost to the 49ers. Fortunately, Rodgers did not get hurt in this game and had moments where he shined. Rodgers had 167 passing yards and a touchdown pass.
As a result, Saleh is optimistic that the Jets’ season will end up better than last year. He was asked if he felt better about being 0-1 this year or 1-0 last season. Here was his response to that question:
“Unfortunately, it does. I know we are going to get the defense fixed. And I know we will get a lot better from Week 1 to Week 2.” -Robert Saleh
Fourth Snap Curse

To keep on the theme of preferring their current situation over last year’s situation, the fourth snap of Rodgers’ season was once again memorable. However, instead of suffering a season-ending injury, this flick pass to RB Breece Hall resulted in a fumble and allowed the 49ers to score their first points of the game. Still, Rodgers walked off the field perfectly healthy this time around.
New York Jets Moving Forward

Despite an unfortunate loss to the 49ers, the Jets have a chance to redeem themselves against the Tennessee Titans next week. New York is facing a Titans team that suffered a heartbreaking loss against the Chicago Bears last week. At the time of writing, the Jets are road favorites to win this game. It would certainly be unfortunate if they got off to an 0-2 start.
